Seems like we're going to have to bring Strong Investors to a close.
You do not have to worry about your e-Gold funds: we will be processing refunds as soon as we handle the account issue. We will be sending out a system-wide message once everything is sorted out -- there's no one to point fingers here, we planned on a successful Round 2, but there's too much going on here for anything to get accomplished. We struggled too many hours to receive such horrible responses from people who lost, I think the first time I complained the person who got me into it told me, "You better get used to getting burned ..." We pumped out over $100K last round, please don't doubt our credability on timely payments.
Members, we will keep you posted once our account is unblocked and fund access is restored..
As far on a personal level, that was a great 24-hour practice of a "Round 2, Crash-n-Burn HYIP 101". I was hired to keep the site secure and keep it up and running, I did my part, but if there's a Singapore hacker with stealing on his mind who decides to reign on our parade -- we're sorry guys, that's how THINGS happen. I watched 7+ HYIPs go down in flames in January with 70% of the members not PAID ... we offered an opportunity to get back what some lost. Even though I was on the board for less than 24 hours and quite honestly, I've seen both sides, I can really say this to you: ONLY INVEST WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE.
Actual exploit used by the hacker from our weblogs:
/ebullion_processing.php?a=pay_withdraw&withdraw=100000%20union%20select%200,894,0.01,0,0,0,0,0,0,0/*&ATIP_TRANSACTION_ID=',actual_amount=0.01,ec=0,date=2006-02-22/* HTTP/1.0" 200 186 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; Media Center PC 4.0)"
IP address of the hacker (from a proxy-server): iteq-ex.iteq.com.sg (184.108.40.206)
So there's your justice right there. Feel free, if to blame anyone, this crafty Singapore oriented hacker. Managed to steal over $18K from the original fund. That's enough proof for us, we hope its enough for you.
I'm not sure if I will be getting involved in any "HYIP Security" in the future, I think it's a terrible thing to leave such an unsecure script in circulation, especially dealing with thousands and thousands of dollars. If I had it my way, it would be completely unscripted ... that's just the Techie's two cents. We all make mistakes, I think technology is the biggest one. If I knew nothing about networking and security and somebody told me "Yeah, our account was hacked by xx by using xx exploit by this" -- it would be VERY far fetched. Just some food for thought.
Good day guys. It was nice serving you guys. Don't be an HYIP admin -- it's a guaranteed HEADACHE afterwards!!
